SportsEngine Registration: Winterland Ice Hockey

2019 Adult Learn to Skate/Play Program

Welcome to the 2019 Adult Learn to Skate/Play Registration Page

2019 Learn to Skate/Play

In 2019, Winterland will again organize their Adult Learn to Skate/Play and Extended Learn to Play programs.

But this year will we add a new twist to our basic Learn to Play programs for Beginners and Novice skaters.

Due to the popularity of the program Winterland will offer a 14 week program with our normal 9 week Learn to Skate/Play program but will add 4 scrimmage sessions and one Friendship Game to make it a 14 week extravaganza of hockey.

Clinic days will be held on Saturdays at Webster Groves with one exception being Sunday, July 7th.  Scrimmage days are held on Monday nights at Brentwood.

And finishing up the program with a Friendship game in July at Webster Groves.

After being involved in Adult Learn to Play for several years now, our instructors have put together a program where we think it will give the participants a chance to learn new skills during our normal Learn to Play sessions, then give them a chance to apply what they have learn in a game situation but in a controlled atmosphere.  It is what we called a “controlled scrimmage”.

During the scrimmages, we will have two coaches on the ice to help instruct and answer questions for the participants while playing the game.  This gives us the chance to give instance feedback to players as they play.

Although they will get our normal Learn to Play program with instruction on Skating- both forward and backward, cross-overs, c-cuts, stick-handling and shooting, we feel the scrimmage opportunity also gives them a chance to just “play” hockey and learn from experience.

We are offing two Programs  - Session #1 and Session #2.  Interested skaters can register for either session or both if they would like to.

Registration is open for both programs.   We strongly suggest you register as soon as possible.
